This Hauck cocktail shaker is the first 3 piece shaker with a built in strainer and this design has not changed since. There have been many “useful improvements” to shakers over the years but this 1884 invention has stood the test of time.
Note that the shaker photographed for this print is an original Hauck from the 1880’s and the patent date is stamped on the under side as shown in the print.
